So Rob gives us further updates and insight, and once again generously shares his knowledge of the area, being the man who has travelled to Seal Island, False Bay more than anyone else alive today.

This episode features group founder Dirk Schmidt turning the hosting tables on group admin Ricardo Lacombe to learn How To Make A Shark Film!
Ricardo discusses the step by step process from inception to pre-production to shooting to post-production and eventual release of the documentary Great White Shark Legend (co-directed by Rachel Lacombe), a documentary which aims to dispel the myths around White Shark behavior as portrayed in the media. The film features prominent South African shark experts such as Rob Lawrence, Alison Kock, Brandon Kilbride and the groups own Dirk Schmidt.
What does it take as an independent film-maker on a low budget to find your way to producing and directing a film about Great White sharks? Ricardo shares his experiences, stories, attitudes to sharks, and offers advice and invitation to anyone with a story to tell about sharks! YOU too can make a shark film and this podcast will delve into how.
This feature length episode features clips and music from the film in a real insight into writing and filming a fresh look at the misunderstood apex predator, the Great White Shark, and you can continue the story!

This episode features Melissa speaking with shark attack survivor Dave Pearson, about his experience, the aftermath and trauma for all involved, and the social media comments and victim blaming following an incident or attack.
Dave is the founder of Bite Club, a support group for survivors of attacks and bites, as well as for the families and friends of victims following a tragic incident.
He also established Beyond The Bite, a support organisation serving many purposes for anyone involved in shark attacks, from helping to get surfers back in the water, to covering costs of families who need to travel to the site of a loved ones attack.
This is a MUST LISTEN for all shark advocates as Dave and Melissa discuss how advocates can really help in the aftermath and reporting of an incident, and how shark advocates can become human advocates at the right time it is needed most.

This episode is our first ever guest interview with the amazing Kathryn Curzon - writer, artist, marine biologist, public speaker and shark educator. Kathryn studied White Shark Behavior for her degree, worked in eco-tourism in South Africa and decided to take to a world tour to educate people on Sharks with her organisation Friends For Sharks, giving over 87 talks and workshops in 10 months.
She offers exciting insight into working in the world of sharks and oceanography, in many roles, and her positive attitude to the ocean is inspiring!
